Brian Klose
The following information is from my coworker, Joe Adams, who is Brian Klose's former Chief on the Sherman and afterward, one of his roommates in Alameda, Ca.;
This past Sunday, 01Jun08, Brian Klose was shopping at a grocery store in Martinez, Ca. when he suffered a seizure and fell to the floor, cracking his skull in two places resulting in brain swelling and trauma. He was rushed by ambulance to a nearby hospital where although pronounced brain dead was placed on life support. Brian's parents arrived in the Bay Area from Florida on Monday. Sadly, nothing could be done for Brian and he was disconnected from life support on Wednesday. Brian will be cremated and his parents currently do not plan on having a ceremony.
Brian Klose was 31.

Road Trip 86

Summer 86. Rod & Troy Donahue, Jay Cooper, Terry Cohen and I all worked at Marie Callanders. We took a week off and drove to Seattle in Jay's pickup. We went to the Space Needle but were too broke or cheap to pay the fare to ride to the top. We met some girls in West Seattle who took us to an under 21 "waver" club. Black make-up, freaky hair - wavers. There we were walking around in our plads, t-shirts, Levis, and mullets. People started following us around in the club. The girls got scared that they were going to kick our asses and got us out. But I knew that we had planted the seed of a revolution w/our fashion statement. Within two years a new music scene burst out of the Seattle area - Grunge. True story (maybe not accurate).

We were there! -- Cindy Sheehan in Crawford (TX) on Saturday Aug. 13
From my friend, Bruce Appleton:
"LIBERAL MEDIA," MY ASS!
Perhaps you've seen the story of Cindy Sheehan and her vigil outside the President's Crawford Ranch. We went there this past Saturday to see what all the fuss was about. Believe me, what the supposed "Mainstream Liberal Media" reported is not what we saw.
I'm going to guess there were 350-400 supporters of Ms. Sheehan -- perhaps 500, if you counted the folks who were coming and going. I counted over 150 cars parked along the sides of the road. (There were perhaps another 100 cars in the town of Crawford, parked in a gravel lot; there were shuttle busses running the protestors to and from.)
Across the ditch I counted 18 Bush supporters, six of whom were clearly under 10 years old. The "liberal" Dallas Morning News said there were hundreds of counter-protestors. If so, I did not see them. The conservatives taunted Cindy Sheehan, who clutched a flag given to her by the brass on the occasion of her son's funeral. Most embarrassingly, the beer-gut, "patriotic" Bush supporters chose to heckle her during the Moment of Silence to honor the courageous Americans who have given their lives in the cause of Freedom in Iraq.
I just had to talk to them, so I approached one fellow who said he'd already done a tour as a tanker, and was itching to go back. "Syria's next," he said with a grin, pointing to his cowboy-style Armor Division hat. I'm not sure he was anything genuine but out of uniform; frankly --looking at his physical shape -- I don't think he'd be of much use to the soldiers and Marines other than stopping bullets and shrapnel.
Using the same extrapolation methods to estimate the number of Bush supporters, there may have been a total of 25. But the "Liberal Mainstream Media" reported "hundreds.": If so, I didn't see them. And the Israeli pullout from Gaza is a bigger story as I write this.
